The 100 year old abandoned railway grade punished and destroyed multiple times by fierce storms has left a peaceful riverside stroll along the Stillaguamish River.

Once the Railroad route hauling Ore from Monte Christo to Everett this “Gorgeous” section of the Robe Canyon is now a Historic Park.

Hike until the gorge narrows and dead-ends through two old railroad tunnels, or until seasonal trail closure areas.

Hike until the gorge narrows and dead-ends through two old railroad tunnels, or until seasonal trail closure areas.

Find the unusual sign on the roadside parking strip where the trail begins in dense woods. Descend down switchbacks to flatter ground. Travel between ponds and along the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River where the terrain tightens and becomes more spectacular traveling above and alongside the river. Keep an eye on little ones and heed the seasonal closures as the footing can be tricky and a slip into the river must be avoided.
