This hike marks Best of the NW’s completion of all 60 hikes within 60 Hikes 60 Miles Seattle guidebook.

I’m here with guidebook author Bryce Stevens to hike the Blake Island loop for the final 60th hike from his book 60 hikes within 60 miles: Seattle.

Blake Island Loop and Kayak from Southworth

Blake Island Loop and Kayak from Southworth

To access the Island we are taking a double kayak from the Southworth ferry area to Tillicum Village.

One of the biggest perks of Blake Island is that we didn’t have to give play-by-play directions. It’s very easy, just follow the perimeter of the island. You will come back to where you started from. It’s a nice and easy comfortable hike where you don’t have to do anything but walk, look at wildlife and enjoy the scenery.

I was walking around Blake Island I felt like this could be anywhere in Alaska, Vancouver, the Inside Passage, somewhere very remote… And then you look over here and you see the Space Needle and the top of the Columbia Center. We have millions of people all around us. But it feels so remote which is incredibly great.
