Dirty Harry’s Balcony and Peak Trail
Mountains to Sound Greenway I90
Do you feel lucky Punk, do ya?
Don’t risk getting towed,
be sure to park before crossing the gate towards the State Fire Training Center.
Walk the first half mile up Grouse Ridge Road
crossing the South Fork of Snoqualmie River,
passing trailheads to the Far Side climbing areas.
Spot the small trail-head marker on the right and head up the steady grade on the trail
formerly Harry Gault’s logging road.
Keep your eyes peeled for artifacts of his logging industry as it recedes back into the forest.
If it’s clear take a short detour to the right and check out the balcony.
Head left up the escalator-grade trail up above the clouds to the top of the peak
where views finally open to the north and east.
Behold Glacier peak in the distance and granite lake far below the precipice
of Dirty Harry’s Peak.
Dirty Box Peak lies just north in between Dirty Harry’s Peak and Mailbox Peak.
Only saw a handful of hikers, some burly mountain runners and one ultra famous record producer on the trail. Good day to get a hike in above the lowland clouds.
