Coal Creek Park Trail

Featuring Waterfalls, traces of old mines, and bridges over multiple stream crossings
this out and back hike packs in a lot within a short distance.

Crossing the road from the Red Town Trail-head the Coal Creek Park trail connects this Issaquah Alps with suburbs of Bellevue.

Tucked in Greenery it’s easy to forget the proximity to shopping malls and suburbia.  The first half-mile from the Red Town Trail-head packs in a short interpretive trail loop with stream crossings, views into an old mine and close up views to North Fork falls.
This interesting section is great for a short outing or hiking with young kids.

Continue on along the trail that pretty much hugs coal creek.  Some sections have short trial closures that redirect you through short stints on gravel roads before rejoining the single track.

With a few hills thrown in to keep things interesting weave around giant maples along the creek until the turn around point on Coal Creek Parkway.
