Rising abruptly from flat farmlands the popular Pinnacle Peak could be considered The Mount Si of Enumclaw.
This ancient volcanic cone long since overgrown with vegetation the peak’s dense forest offers occasional breaks to farmland views below. Looking north its possible to spot the Seattle city skyline appearing to be building blocks emerging from a distant forest. Mount Rainier looms in the south across the white river valley. Once you see basalt columns emerging from the switchback trail you are approaching the summit. Although the summit views at the post of an old fire lookout are limited this unique feature makes a worthwhile destination and benchmark for the standard grade steep trail 1,000 vertical feet per mile.
